Headwaters Outdoor School

Earth Caretaker School

Custom Classes and Private Groups

These unique classes are one of Tim’s specialties. This is a remarkable opportunity for a school or private group to set up a custom class with Headwaters to fit their specific needs in experiencing the wilderness. Tim and our staff will teach a mix of wilderness skills, earth philosophy and nature awareness to gain a deeper appreciation of nature and a sense of coming home again.

These classes can be a great way to finish a school year, as well as a great way to start it off with an amazing bonding experience. Many Waldorf, Charter and Public schools have been holding annual, private classes with us.

Tim has guided Rites of Passages and Vision Quests for groups of teenagers as well as for adults. He will work with individuals as well as groups honoring a lost ceremony that is much needed in anyone’s personal growth.

Besides spending time on our amazing land other options available are white water rafting, caving and off site hiking on Mt. Shasta, at Lava Beds National Monument or at McCloud waterfalls.

Private groups interested in coming to Headwaters can speak with Tim and create a program custom for your particular group. If a week long class will not work for you there are a few long weekends available as well. Tim can work with your group, offering private teachings or we can provide the space for you to run your own workshop.

Headwaters offers time in the spring and fall for these private groups, retreats and classes. Most of the summer is already booked up with our regular classes open to the public.

Our land has been described as a national park without the crowds. With fresh, spring water, creeks, ponds, meadows and forests, we have to agree it is an amazing place to be.

Because of the popularity of these private classes we book up early, many week slots over a year in advance. So if you are interested in scheduling your group with us please call as soon as you know so we can find a date available that works for you.

Call Tim at 530-938-1304 to discuss a custom class.

“My first winter class back in ’93 was a monumental event in my life, as my journal reveals. My connection to the Earth was so powerful (right then). I owe much of that to Tim and his presence with Nature.”

“Between the strokes of the bow drill and reading tracks in the snow, I received gifts unexpected: family, community, inspiration, laughter and the relationship with nature beyond belief.”

“As a teacher and a counselor—and simply as a human being—my life is still enhanced daily by things I learned over 20 years ago with Tim and the Headwaters family. I happily carry nature awareness and earth philosophy in my bones, even decades later. Whether it’s a long hike, or a quick walk around the block, my experience is so much deeper because of this good medicine. I am forever grateful and wholeheartedly wish the same for you.”

“I’ve been making a pilgrimage to Headwaters at least once a year for 15 years, and bringing people to this land for nearly as long. The space that Tim, Julie & the staff create is powerful & sacred, and no person is not better for having spent time here. Both of my children have been coming to this land their whole lives. There is nowhere I would rather they be, and there is no one I trust more with the lives & spirits of my children than Tim & Julie. If there is any way to get yourself and/or your children here, you should definitely do it – you won’t regret it!”
