Our Camp

Camp life at Headwaters encourages you to slow down, immerse yourself in nature, and explore.

Here's a preview of things to discover:

Entering the grounds

At the entry of Headwaters are our food and flower gardens and greenhouses, Tim’s nature photography gallery and library yurt, our inside and outside shower and bath house, our laundry room for full time apprentices, our clean and airy outhouses, and our full time resident’s homes.

In camp

Entering our primitive camp is like walking into a magical forest. You will cross over meandering creeks, some run full, allowing people to jump in the dipping holes, and some run at a steady trickle, inviting one to sit and get lost in the slower than slow pace.

Our open-air camp kitchen and campfire area is the central meeting space between classes. Our tipi village consists of primitive, cedar bark shelters that were built in previous classes. There are also designated spaces for personal tents if you choose. There are also a few canvas tent cabins scattered throughout the camp.

Where we meet

Our main indoor, class meeting space is a 40’ traditional roundhouse. We have a sweat lodge area which is surrounded by dipping pools from our year around, running creek.

And the land beyond...

Beyond our primitive camp structures are acres of forests, and meadows that connect with the Shasta-Trinity National Forest.
